I was working on a comment script and unfortunately lost the last week's comments (anything since the 12th). On the plus side, we got back a lot of old comments that were truncated by the switch to the database backend.

In better news, made some progress on the site this evening. The following updates have actually gone from idle wishes to operational features:
* Added support for Mythic Rares. They now work correctly in terms of sorting, searching, and set icon displayed.
* Consolidate everything into one searchable, sortable spoiler that can be viewed in any combination of ways: summary, full spoiler, visual, or comments.
* Make textcards and renders simultaneously viewable on each individual card's page.
* Add each card's name to the title bar of its individual page.
* Added a preliminary favicon to the site.

It doesn't look like much when it's all summed up, but it took an evening and I'm happy with the results. Still to come:

Wishlist:
* Update searching to allow boolean logic and multiple terms.
* Add the ability to search on comment timestamps.
* Make the sort interface easier/cooler.
* Save last visit timestamp so that you can easily see comments that have been made since then.
* Allow login.
* Possibly revamp comments to be more like "posts" by users.
* Add a discussion page, like a giant whiteboard.
* Add a way to create a blank "design" spoiler that can be used to create a set.

Awe would have decent synergy, since he has vigilance to both attack and block. However, leaving him with first strike isn't too much of an issue; there are plenty of precedents for WW 2/2 creatures that *don't* have first strike. Even knights (of the Holy Nimbus).

It was me who proposed the flavour text. I'm not native speaker, so I usually stay away from it. My intention was that the peasant was more than well paid for hosting the emperor, as he received the Cornucopia (wich is an unending source of wealth and food...). Also, I worded this card as a must draw (like the obvious inspiration Horn of Greed), but I'm fine with it being "you may draw".

I think this would need some sort of mana to activate it, like 3 or something. Otherwise you're spending a one-time 8 mana for an Urza's Factory that you never have to pay to activate. Also, who made this? There's no credit in the copyright line.

Well, that's why it's rare. It also requires a land (two cards involved = two targets to disrupt) and doesn't make mana for you until it goes live. We discussed the play/fortify costs, but they can be balanced through playtesting.

But this technically goes online before the Factory and it costs less to use. Drop this turn 5, fortify and make a guy on turn 6. The factory doesn't start making guys until turn 8, and you have to spend 8 mana to do that. Rare or not, I don't see how this is balanced.

As cool as this is, it's the only thing that makes these tokens. And it's an artifact, so there's no tie to any color. I vote we swap it to something else, whether it be Saprolings (same size, but not very fitting) or Wolves (which would require rebalancing).

The combat damage trigger is interesting, but I think it could be used for other things if Urge is going to reduce cost based on attacking creatures. The common enchantment cycle could trigger on it, for one. I wonder if this would fit better triggering when creatures damage other creatures, not players? Not that it's bad now, this card just sticks out in my mind as something that is uncomfortably close to another slated mechanic, and I wonder if there is a way to either unify them or make them more distinct.

Yawgmoth's Will is broken simply because it's a combo enabler which this is not. He's strong, no doubt, but he's very much in flavor and quite balanced, imo. He's also actually less of an engine than Haakon simply because he can't keep coming back like Haakon does.

The building in the background does not take away from the flavor. It's not per se a skyscraper, but maybe a tower. And in classic times they build towers. Also, I didn't recognize this as batman. The bats flying around him could be symbolic for the creature cards in the graveyard that give him power. It's fine as is.

There were some good suggestions for this. Searching lands out of your library (what if it cycle the land it was attached to back into library?), or giving it a sacrifice ability. This is admittedly pretty bad.

I'm a fan of keeping it "simple," and keeping it as cheap as possible for fort.dec. If we add a sac ability it should be something like "3, Sacrifice fortified land: Draw a card." Tutoring from the library would work if the card itself cost 1/2, and/or if the land CIPT'd.

Yes, in fact it would just be a 3 cost Zuran Orb at sorcery speed that is still pointlessly a formation. It needs to do something to the land it fortifies, and I don't think it should have fortify 0. Other ideas:
On upkeep, search another of fortified land into your hand. (Good with grandeur lands!)
Fortified land gains "T, Sacrifice this land: Search your library for a land card and put it into play." (Crop Rotation forever).
Fortified land gains "T, Sacrifice this land: You gain 2 life." (With a fortification cost not 0, and losing the ability it has now.)

I was going to bring that up. As is, they're only marginally better than the Invasion taplands, and that's only if you see another copy during a game. I was going to suggest either they don't come into play tapped, or they put the searched land into play, either tapped or untapped. Maybe both, cuz they're really lacking a WOW factor right now.

First, the render is awesome!. Second: what level of power do we want? If we want real fetchlands, they should come into play untapped and put the land into play tapped. If they "fetched" the land untapped, that could mean 2 untapped lands on turn one, which I think is too much. Also, Life of the Loam + this would be really degenerate, as you don't need to pay life! (as opposed to real fetchlands, where the lifeloss can be relevant with Life of the Loam tricks). Anyway, you'll probably use the grandeur ability EOT, so it's not such a real difference between them...I would settle for that.

Mmmmm...Unless I am missing something, this doesn't look specially awesome to me. Tap 3 lands to produce 2 mana??? It's difficult to break (Karoos, Heartbreak of Spring, untap effect that doesn't cost mana); IMO we could reduce both costs by one?

It's actually slightly incorrect; the real cost to play is 6 but it only requires that you tap a single land for its effect. That means the fortified land can produce 2^X mana, where X is the number of other lands you control.

Bit of redundancy between this and Pleasure Garden. Both serve as a common means to make a fortified land tap for rainbows. I'm not saying they obsolete each other, just that they touch the same headspace via two different card types.

It's been suggested this be a 2/4; I disagree. We already have one in Vessalian Shoreguard, and looking at other historic white vigilance commons, this card balances fine. It's an Ardent Militia trading 2 toughness for an extremely relevant, repeatable life gain ability. Does it really need more toughness?
The only counterargument I can think of is Jedit's Dragoons, which cost 1 more but are 2/5 with fairly decent lifegain. I would have no problem pushing this up to 5W and making it bigger.

I hate to nitpick, but I've noticed a problem with every render that has a quote attribute. If you just hit [enter] and then type the attribute, it leaves more of a gap than it should. The more I think about this, the more I feel that it's a tad undercosted; it combines too well with anything whose ability is a disadvantage. I would suggest doing one of the following:
* Raise the mana cost to 2R.
* Make this an "Enchant creature you don't control".
* Adjust the bonus to +2/+0.

I dunno, what, Deadgrip Cyclops? I think the Flickerflame combo is what makes the cards, and really like them at these costs. There are a number of risks associated with being made vanilla, in particular Unsung Fate, as well as a majority of creatures with useful abilities that you would lose when playing this, so it should balance. I think it is a key part of promoting the vanilla theme.

I checked and zu_Faul's original submission did cantrip. I see no real reason for or against it; it doesn't feel underpowered as-is or overpowered without it.
I think it is worth mentioning that while the cantrip might convince you to use it earlier, this card will always be fantastic in the situations it's built for: slipping a Thief Novice in, then cranking its power up off their Darksteel Colossus.

There was no reason to make Cytoshape more difficult to fizzle because if the changing creature would die, there would be no effect anyway. There have been other cards worded this way where destroying both targets are necessary. Soul's Fire is one recent example.

About this spell: the current wording is hardest to disrupt. Only way to make it harder would be having the spell target nothing, and that's not fair.

Well, no one really plays prevention spells. In experience decks, cards like this might actually become amazingly high picks.

Maybe the last sentence is better worded as:
"If damage to a creature is prevented this way, put that many skill counters on that creature."

Hostility says this should be worded: "Put a skill counter on that creature for each damage prevented this way."

But Test of Faith says otherwise.

Indeed, this could use almost exactly the text of Test of Faith. "Prevent the next 3 damage that would be dealt to target creature this turn, and put a skill counter on that creature for each 1 damage prevented this way." There may be an issue with it preventing damage to players, I think that should be dropped.
